"Our graduates should accept responsibility for understanding and evaluating the scientific evidence behind their decisions and should leave medical school with the tools necessary to do so. Evidence-based medicine (EBM) provides a powerful educational strategy to achieve these goals. Our purpose in this commentary is to familiarize the reader with this educational strategy, outline some of the benefits and pitfalls of including EBM in the medicine clerkship curriculum, and suggest some strategies for implementation."
This eBook in AccessMedicine discusses EBM practices. We recommend reading chapter 4, "Decision-Making in Clinical Medicine," which discusses how forms of literature, like literature reviews and meta-analyses, help medical professionals exercise EBM skills.
